A family home built in the 70's, beautifully located directly across the street from Heisler Park and the ocean, was in serious need of updating. It belongs to an entire clan of relatives and they were interested in reworking the home to make it more livable and practical for their family retreats in Laguna Beach. We added space to the family TV room downstairs and a bit more to the kitchen and dining areas. Upstairs we added a new bedroom and bath and enlarged one of the existing baths. These additions fit nicely into the footprint of the home and maintain a heritage feel to the property. The colors and materials are traditional. This project was designed with sustainability in mind from the beginning. We are sandblasting and staining the original heartwood redwood siding and constructing the stone wall in front to imitate the walls in the park across the way. The landscaping will allow for family gatherings in the front, rear and one side yard - lots of lovely comfortable space for all the relatives.
